Cracked' Weekly DN Tournaments!

Well, here's something I've wanted to get going for a while now, and I figure that the forum's a good a place as any to do it.

The idea, as the title suggets, is that each week I'll be running a Yu-Gi-Oh! tourny on the popular, and almost-not-completely-shit website Dueling Network!

However, to mix things up a bit, each week I'll be forcing everyone to make a deck of some ridiculous quality, like everyone makes HERO decks, or everyone makes Goat decks, or I dunno, I'll think of more when I need to.

So... who's interested?

Only if you teach me everything in Yu-Gi-Oh!

I've actually had similar thoughts myself.

One thing I thought would be great was a singleton draft, with the card pool being "every card in the game" (barring Greed, Raigeki, and Feather Duster; pure advantage cards without condition or cost)

No matter the rulesets, I think I have to /in for this.

This should start now, we can just go 5p round-robin.

Got it! Everyone shall make mono-type decks. So yeah, basically, all monsters in your deck must be of the same type.

Modifiers: ('Cos this is going to be a thing.)
No archetypes! (You cannot contain more than 2 cards which are members of, or support, the same archetype.)
No Warriors, Spellcasters, Plants, or Dragons! (These 4 types strike me as having the most support, so non of that.)

Tournaments on Saturday, or Sunday, whenever everyone's free.

Rules clarification:

Do you mean two copies of a card, or two cards at up to three each?

If the latter, there are a few moderately powerful engines which are probably runnable at least in a stripped-down manner.

2 cards. By which I mean 2 cards. 2 cards at three copies each would be /6/ cards. And 6 is more than 2.

It was an ambiguous statement. If I say "I'm only running four of the Crystal Beasts", the assumption is that I'm running more than one of each (or it's not a Crystal Beast deck).

I'll grant, it was an ambiguous statement, but when I say 'no archetypes', then you can assume that having 6 cards of the same archetype in that deck goes against that rule.

Also, are we counting Number cards as an archetype?

Well actually I finished making it just about when you posted that, I just got finished testing it though.

:Edit: If you're gonna ban Zombies I think you should also ban Rock decks for the same reason.

Rock isn't nearly as powerful as zombies.

I still think it's more powerful than anything that the other Archetpyes can really cope with without archetypes.

Fine, we'll ban Rock too. And also... Charisma.

Exxod/Sphinxes fall under archetype/support rule as far as I can tell, so Exxod burn is going to be difficult (not completely sure how searchable sphinxes/Exxod are); not impossible, but certainly inconsistent. The only really nasty aspect to rock is that they have access to the best extra deck (Daigusto Emerald, Gem-Knight Pearl, Gachi Gachi Gantetsu, Number 106, and Acid Golem). Problem is, their only good ways of getting these are stall, and for the rank 4s, Gigantes and The Rock Spirit, but their best card (Fossil Dyna) interferes with this.

(Fair disclaimer, I was actually experimenting with the possibility of a rock deck)

Peter does make a decent point. Whilst the wiki says "Exxod is not a sphinx", it does still include him in their support list which I didn't realise. I'll withdraw my objection if peter does want to run a rock deck.

The fact that Exxod requires a Spinx tribute to work, and also, a number of decent cards in an Exxod deck /aren't/ Rock, makes a mono-type Exxod deck implausible. The only other reason I see for using Rock is for a Rock stun deck, but that also breaks the archetype rule.

The more I think about, the more I don't understand why you wanted Rock banned.

I wasn't really thinking at the time, this happens about as often as you'd expect.
